Granny White  
Sesame Seed Bagels

tsp (5 mL) granulated sugar  
cup (250 mL) warm water  
pkg active dry yeast (or 1 tbsp/15 mL)  
eggs  
tbsp (15 mL) vegetable oil  
1/2 cups (875 mL) (approx) all−purpose flour  
tbsp. (25 mL) granulated sugar  
tsp. (10 mL) salt

6 cups (4L) water  
tbsp. (25 mL) granulated sugar

/2 cup (125 mL) sesame or poppy seeds  
egg, beaten  
In large bowl, dissolve 1 tsp. sugar in water. Sprinkle in yeast,  
let stand for 10 minutes or until frothy. Whisk in eggs with oil.  
Beat in 2 cups of the flour, sugar and salt until smooth. Gradually  
stir in enough of the remaining flour to make a soft but not sticky  
dough.
