slices white bread -- crusts removed
cups shredded sharp Cheddar cheese (8 ounces)

Dash ground red pepper (cayenne)

Mix margarine, mustard and garlic. Spread evenly over each slice bread.
Cut each slice into thirds. Line bottom and sides of ungreased square
baking dish, 8 × 8 × 2 inches, with half of the bread slices, buttered
sides down, cutting to fit.
Mix cheese, parsley, onion, salt, Worcestershire sauce, pepper and red
pepper. Spread evenly over bread slices in dish. Top with remaining bread
slices, buttered sides up.
Beat eggs in medium bowl. Stir in milk. Pour over bread. Cover and
refrigerate at least 2 hours but no longer than 24 hours.
Heat oven to 325º. Bake uncovered about 1 1/4 hours or until knife
inserted in center comes out clean. Let stand 10 minutes before cutting.
