From Salads...Sauces...Soups:  
COLE SLAW

head grated cabbage  
Seasoned salt to taste

/2 cup sugar  
1
/4 cup vinegar, maybe a little more, to taste  
Pinch of mustard seed, again to taste  
Pinch of celery seed, once again to taste

onion, chopped  
COMBINE all ingredients.  
Coleslaw Dressing

cup sugar  
/3 cup vinegar  
/2 cup water  
tablespoon corn starch  
BEAT egg until fluffy. Gradually ADD sugar and vinegar. COOK on medium heat  
to boiling point. DISSOLVE corn starch in water and ADD to make sauce. COOL  
before serving.  
Seafood Chowder

slices bacon  
tablespoons butter  
cup chopped onion  
stalk minced celery  
clove garlic, minced  
--8 ounce bottles clam juice  
medium potatoes, cubed  
Dash thyme, pepper, salt--to taste

cups 1/2 and 1/2 milk  
--10 ounce jar oysters with liquid  
pound fresh shrimp, peeled and deveined  
tablespoons flour or corn starch  
/4 cup water  
tablespoons wine  
SAUTÉ bacon and STIR in butter. ADD onion, celery, garlic, SAUTÉ. STIR in  
clam juice, potatoes, thyme, salt, pepper. HEAT to boil. REDUCE heat--cover  
and simmer until potatoes are tender, between 10 and 20 minutes. STIR in half
